Fiber-Optic Cabling
Structured fiber design, installation and certification for buildings, campuses and metro runs — engineered once, tested end to end, and documented so the next project does not start with a flashlight.
The problem this solves
Fiber projects rarely fail on the glass. They fail on planning: the wrong fiber type for the distance, too few strands for growth, pathways that were never surveyed, and no certification results to prove the link performs. We plan the plant around today's uplinks and the next decade of growth.
Who it is for
- Organizations adding buildings, floors or outbuildings that need backbone connectivity
- Sites replacing aging copper backbones or multimode links that limit uplink speeds
- Data rooms and IDFs that need clean, labelled, certifiable fiber plant
- Facilities and IT teams preparing for 10/25/100G uplinks
Not the right fit if
- You only need a handful of patch cords replaced
- You need a residential fiber-to-the-home service
What is included — scope of work
Site & pathway survey
Walkdown of buildings, risers, conduit and pathways; identification of constraints, firestopping needs and permitting requirements.
Plant design
Single-mode vs multimode selection, strand counts, enclosure and panel layout, connector type and labelling scheme.
Installer coordination
Scope package for licensed installers, bid comparison support and on-site oversight at key milestones.
Testing & certification
Tier 1 loss testing and OTDR traces on every strand, compared against the design loss budget.
As-built documentation
Strand maps, panel elevations, pathway drawings and test results organised for future moves, adds and changes.
Uplink readiness
Optics recommendations so your switching layer can use the new plant on day one.
Deliverables
- Site and pathway survey report
- Fiber plant design and loss budget
- Installer scope-of-work package
- Milestone inspection notes
- Certification test results for every strand
- As-built drawings and strand map
- Optics and uplink recommendations
How it works
Survey
Pathway walkdown, requirements and constraints.Design
Plant design, loss budget and labelling standard approved by you.Install
Licensed installers execute; we inspect at agreed milestones.Certify
Every strand tested and compared to the design budget.Document
As-builts, results and handoff walkthrough.
What affects the price
Pricing starts at $18,000 for a typical single-campus backbone. Final price depends on run lengths, strand counts, pathway condition, permitting and whether new conduit or aerial work is required. You receive a fixed quote after the survey and before installation begins. Third-party construction, permits and materials are itemised separately. See all Network & Infrastructure Services.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the price shown as 'from'?
Fiber cost is driven by distance and pathway conditions that cannot be known before a survey. We publish the starting point honestly and fix the full price in writing after the survey.
Do you do the physical installation?
Installation is performed by licensed installation crews. Gridwise owns the design, coordination, inspection and certification so you have one accountable party.
What does certification prove?
That every installed link meets its loss budget and has no faults along its length, with saved test files you keep.
Can I see past projects?
Gridwise is a newly launched practice and does not publish client case studies. The survey report and design are yours to review before you commit to installation.
Do you handle permits?
We identify permit requirements in the survey and coordinate them with installers and your facilities team; permit fees are passed through at cost.
What we need from you
- A named technical contact with authority to approve changes
- Current network diagrams, device inventory or whatever documentation exists, however incomplete
- Read-only access to network devices and monitoring tools during discovery
- Carrier and circuit contract details, including renewal dates
- Agreed change windows for any work that touches production
How Gridwise works
Written scope before work starts. Every engagement begins with a written scope, deliverables list and fixed price or monthly fee. Nothing is billed outside that scope without your written approval.
Vendor-neutral advice. Gridwise does not take commissions from hardware, carrier, cloud or software vendors, so recommendations follow your requirements rather than a sales target.
You own the outputs. Designs, configurations, documentation and code produced for you are yours to keep and use with any provider.
Honest about where we are. Gridwise Technology is a newly launched practice. We do not publish testimonials, client logos or case studies, and we will not invent them. What we offer instead is a clear process, written acceptance criteria and documented results for your own environment.
What happens after you apply
Your application goes straight to the Gridwise team, not to a sales queue. Within one business day we reply by email with either a short list of clarifying questions or a proposal for a scoping conversation. If the engagement looks like a fit, we send a written scope that lists the work, the deliverables, the timeline, the fixed price or monthly fee, and the assumptions it depends on. Nothing starts and nothing is billed until you have reviewed and approved that document. If we are not the right partner for what you need, we will say so plainly and, where we can, point you toward a better option.
